Foal sepsis

Event Category: Not Specified
Event Description

Sepsis remains one of the leading causes of foal mortality. This webinar will focus on the identification of risk factors and early clinical signs that allow the early identification of sepsis. We will discuss the pathophysiology of how sepsis occurs and then focus on the practical approach to treatment and prevention. This webinar is aimed at giving solid practical advice to the equine vet. Emily graduated from the University of Bristol in 2003 and worked in equine and small animal practice for 18 months. She then completed an equine internship at the Liphook Equine Hospital in Hampshire. Between 2006 and 2009 Emily completed residency in large animal internal medicine at UC Davis and became a Diplomate of the American College of Large Animal Internal Medicine. Since 2009 she has been working at the Rossdales Equine Hospital in Newmarket in the internal medicine department. Her primary interest is neonatology and she has primary responsibility for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. During her residency in California Emily developed a special interest in Neonatal Maladjustment Syndrome and is still actively involved in collaborative research on the topic. She also carries out adult internal medicine and critical care.
